March Madness

The month of March will be a busy one. Midterms were sent out only to those who are having difficulty in one or more subjects. I figured grades for everyone, so if you would like to know your child's current status, let me know. No news is good news!

Extended school days begin tomorrow. I hope to be able to do some extra things we don't normally have time to do. Should be fun.

Conferences are also upcoming. There will be more info on this later.

Looking forward to SPRING!!!

Due to the early dismissal on Friday, the ITBS movie was postponed. It is rescheduled for Friday at 1:00 before the Valentine Party. The party committee will be bringing home notes on Monday. All students are welcome to bring Valentines. Please make sure there is one for every student.

Enjoy another football Sunday!

Thank You

Just a quick thank you to the parents who took the time to check over the Social Studies questions. This certainly made a difference in grades. Each and every student had the opportunity to take the questions home to be checked over. I am trying to teach your child/children how to be responsible and take advantages of opportunities offered to them. Thank you for taking the time for your child.

February

ITBS tests will be finished tomorrow. The students worked really hard and tried their best. Attendance was also very good. There are very few tests that have to be made up. Thanks! All students who took the tests will be treated to a movie on Friday afternoon.

February is Black History Month, and we are learning about famous African Americans and what they are remembered for. We are working with World Book for Kids online. These kids are really computer literate!

We are focusing on main idea and summarizing when we read. It is difficult for the students to differentiate between details and the main idea, but we are improving.

Just 5 more letters to learn in cursive. We will then work on difficult letter connections and do lots of practice.

Greater addition and subtraction is the skill we are working on in Math. Regrouping is tough, especially across zero.

Valentine's Day party will be in Friday, February 12. Committee includes Anthony, Stephanie, Corey, Andrew, and Mason. More details will be coming.

Have a great February!!!

This has been a tough stretch of weather. Hope everyone is safe and warm. Because of having no school, we will not be having the scheduled Social Studies test. I'm sure it's hard for the students to remember where we left off. I know it is for me!

We do have upcoming ITBS tests. These tests are very important I encourage all students to get a good night's sleep and eat a good breakfast. The cooks will provide mid-morning snacks. These will not be a substitute for breakfast. If school starts on time, I anticipate starting these tests tomorrow (Wednesday).

Enjoy another day off. At least the sun is shining and the winds are calm! Tell my little people that I look forward to seeing them tomorrow!!!

Happy New Year! I can't believe it's 2010! This year is really flying by.

Everyone returned back to school healthy and happy. We've started off this year journaling about Christmas break. It sounds like everyone had a great time. We are foocusing on predicting outcomes, visualizing, and topic and main idea in Reading. We constantly summarize. In Math it's greater addition and subtraction. We're doing lots of regrouping. We are jusst finishing up a PowerPoint book on community services and helpers. They really enjoyed creating their own pages. We hope to be writing in cursive soon. Another busy productive year!

Thanks for doing such a great job signing the assignment books. I believe it is a great way to communicate.
